Tooth Decay

To do this, some enamel will have to be shaved down, and the tooth’s dentin will be exposed. In some cases, if the crown does not completely envelop the tooth, there could be some exposed dentin at the gum line. This can result in a tooth that is sensitive to hot and cold temperatures. When you are getting prepped for a dental crown, you will likely have to have an impression taken of your teeth to ensure that your crown will be created with the proper fit and feel. If a crown does not fit right, you could have issues with your bite once the crown is put onto the tooth. If a crown creates even a slight malocclusion, it could also lead to excessive wear and tear that affects the teeth on either side. These issues can be avoided with a properly fitted crown, so if it does not feel right, let your dentist know.
